Suspected Harasser Asked: 'Yet What If I Could Be Madeleine?'
A individual indicted with stalking Kate McCann apparently recorded her a voicemail message which asked: "what if I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial charged with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.
On Monday, the court learned communication data and evidence obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during 2023 and 2024.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is one of the most publicized missing child cases and remains unresolved.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
One recorded message, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm overweight and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I feel."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone stated: "Imagine there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Is that not crucial for you?"
"I am not seeking money, I have a living here in Poland, I just want to discover," the message continued.
The tribunal was informed that via emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who collated the information, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt furthermore reached out to family friends of the McCanns, based on the call data.
On 9 October 2024, the father picked up a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."
During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail saying "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my position."
The court learned the co-defendant developed a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in that area in that winter.
Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had contacted through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the press had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the months preceding the visit to that location, Leicestershire, in that winter.
The court was told communications between the two accused, in last November, planning attempting to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from silverware at a eating establishment.
"We must take action," Mrs Spragg informed Ms Wandelt.
On the night of the visit to their residence, the defendant transmitted a communication which said: "We're currently positioned near the McCanns' residence with our vehicle dark similar to detectives. I had hoped to accomplish this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
The case ongoing.
