She's Collected Hundreds of Pokemon Cards with Holes, and Nothing Can Halt Her.
The Pokémon Company released collectors to the trading card game Diamond & Pearl edition in the year 2007, featuring the Bonsly card. In this card, Gen IV stone creature appears by illustrator Harada-san in a somewhat awkward situation. On the card, Bonsly, which evolves into Sudowoodo can be seen fallen and crying. But don't misunderstand, however. Like its ability Fake Tears, Bonsly is trying to sway the foe's feelings with the goal of reducing their offensive power. Memorable card, no? Harp player Emily absolutely agrees. And she's got a binder with 305 Bonsly cards to show for it.
Her Complete Set Including Rare Finds
But that isn't the whole collection either. She obtained a score of reverse foil copies of the Bonsly card, which depicts the small Pokémon in reflective foil all over except the central artwork. The most valuable item, though, is the professionally graded PSA 6 holo reverse Bonsly edition. Sure, it isn't a top-graded original Charizard card. Yet, do you possess a goofy, almost perfect card of Bonsly preserved in all its splendor? I thought as much.
How It All Began
Hopkins has spent a large part of this year gathering all available Bonsly cards from that year available on the market. She initially learned of this rare card at the start of the year, while debating the most cursed cards in the compendium with a worker at a local shop. The weeping Omanyte was a contender, along with Cubone by itself at the theme park. However, the one that Bonsly crying, aka Bonsly #17, that grabbed her interest.
Behind Bonsly's Look
The design of Bonsly is based by bonsai plants, which are often grown in pots that have drainage holes. They are designed to support healthy development, in fact fans encourage each other to add holes on the bottom if holes are missing. Bonsai can also be placed in shallow containers lacking drainage, referred to as suiban, and the collected moisture may assist caretakers style their trees to mimic nature vistas. Bonsly represents the first type, thus the hole exists.
A Memorable and Notorious Card
Despite this logical explanation, yet, Pokémon's creators appears somewhat overly focused regarding the hole in Bonsly. Market Trends and Value
These days, excellent this Bonsly card might be valued at $14.99. While that is a premium price, standard versions usually go for starting at $4. The upward trend more or less coincides with her starting point collecting seriously, but it's possible that several factors at play. Even though the card is notorious in the community, Hopkins's posts regarding the card have attracted a huge audience. "The wonderful part is that a few followers and viewers of the YouTube channel have shipped copies of Bonsly to Emily to expand the set, and she is preserving these Bonsly safe forever," Hopkins says. Rather than recoil in horror, the audience are amazed and encouraged by her Bonsly binder.
