Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend following the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton manager - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is said to have backing from the club board as they begin the search of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham United player is currently unemployed which means the club would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
