Nearly 55,000 homes have so far been impacted by the weather, with their items and temporary homes destroyed.

Heavy storms over the recent period have worsened the precarious circumstances of the vast number of displaced civilians in the region, as stated by relief agencies.

"Terrible" Conditions Poses Grave Threats

A representative characterized the weather overnight as "awful", with precipitation so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the terrain.

"The recent weather was truly difficult for the families. The downpours were so strong... And the gusts were so strong," said the official.

There is significant anxiety that children residing in makeshift shelters in damp garments will fall victim to hypothermia and additional sicknesses.

Casualties and Extensive Loss

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has died from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have lost their lives in roof cave-ins triggered by the harsh conditions.

Other reports put a increased death toll. Spokespeople reported that numerous structures had fully given way and many others had collapsed partially.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency refuges severely flooded.
  • Countless residents compelled to find new shelter.

Assistance Distribution Seen as Not Enough

Agencies have escalated distribution of tents, blankets and clothing following the ceasefire began, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to provide that assistance and to hand it out, but the scale of the necessities is so immense that we continue to see a great number of people and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship each evening," warned one spokesperson.

Future Challenges and Truce Terms

The next stage of the truce includes proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of personnel, and other conditions.

Relief groups have underscored the necessity for "increased and sustained aid to address pressing and long-term requirements."

The conflict was sparked by an offensive in October 2023. Later campaigns have caused a significant number of fatalities in the region, according to medical data.
