Fans Urge Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the pop star are calling for that a individual who jumped a fence and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared video depicts the individual from Australia pushing past camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors walked down a promenade flanked by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was charged.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram account includes clips of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is evidently a legal violation," commented an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several fans accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the end of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said a further response on Instagram.
Some fans also criticised guards at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while some requested online networks to block Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was touched by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising friendship between two very different characters.
The production itself is a spin-off of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, winning several for best costume and set decoration.
